We are up to our eyeballs in mud and dirt. These boys are giving a whole new meaning to the term "mud room" and I am forever grateful that this new house came with one. Man, they get filthy just walking out the garage to the CAR! Good thing they're washable!

February 12, 2011...Beauty Regimine
I woke up at 6 AM this morning to the sound of Alex calling my name...I expected he would wander into our bedroom with his blankies and "fway" (pacifier) as he usually does in the morning, but he never did. So a few (quiet) minutes later I decided to get up and see what he was up to. This is what I found...He had climbed up to the breakfast bar and helped himself to my make-up case. He looked so pretty!

Nate was outside playing today when I heard him yelling "Help ME!" - I went (read: RAN) to see what the problem was and I found him like this. Self-imposed capture. He had tied himself to a tree and was acting out a struggle to escape. Darn kid and his imagination. He almost gave me a heart attack. And believe me, I told him so.

Nate decided he wanted to make "chicken noodle soup" today and lucky for him I had dishes to wash and dinner to make so I gave him some bowls, measuring cups, mixing spoons, flour, pepper, water, and a blender (unplugged) and he whipped up some mean soup for our "enjoyment". It made a few more dishes for me to wash but it kept him occupied forever - measuring and mixing and dumping from blender to bowl to blender again. I will let him "cook" soup again anyday!!

Buddies.
Our friend {"Baby"} Shawn (on the right) came over to play today.
As you can see, we LOVE {"Baby"} Shawn.
However, we still need to work on NOT calling him {"Baby"} Shawn
as he is clearly NOT a baby anymore! :)

We let the boys eat their lunches at the little table in the living room today. Alex was so proud to be able to sit like a big boy with his beloved big brother. It was a small glimpse into the teamwork and camaraderie I so hope they have as they get older!

Alex got to play with play-doh today
and he wasn't quite sure what to think about it.

I loaded the boys into the wagon this afternoon to walk around the corner to Wilson Farms for some milk. Of course what does a hot summer afternoon call for but ICE CREAM!!! So I gave the kids each a nutty buddy cone and headed back. Alex went to town on his and was a sticky, gooey, HAPPY mess by the time we got home. We went straight into the sprinkler from here so I didn't mind! I love summer!

We left today for a weekend trip to the Adirondacks to help my parents move into the new camp/house they bought up North. In honor of the occasion, I tried to find a somber photo of the beautiful scenery to post but apparently didn't take any today. Besides, I couldn't resist sharing this one.
Nathaniel got a hold of Geema's glasses - I think he looks hilarious!

Geema came over to watch the boys tonight so Daddy and I could get out to our annual clam bake with the Drunken Bastards (a group of friends we get together with to knock back a few from time to time). While Nathaniel and Geema were playing Nate was apparently putting together characters using his Mr. Potato Head parts. Here's a photo my mother shot of the dress up fun...

We had a fabulous play date with Auntie Pam and ("Baby") Shawn and Baby Brianna. I love the freedom of letting the kids play (and they play so well together!) and just sitting back and having a semi-coherent conversation with my BFF! Here is a rare moment of tenderness between brothers. I believe this was seconds before Nate hit Alex and pushed him out of the way, but hey...it's a glimpse of kindness.

Oh, to be a boy who doesn't care that he's splashing in swamp water at Geema and Geempa's yard. Who am I to say anything? I used to play in these same puddles as a kid! Passing on traditions, I guess. Let's hope this puddle is still there come November so he can learn to ice skate on it when it freezes over (just like his Mommy did)!
