Today one of my best friends in the whole world organized a "Blankets for Babies" event (that word is used lightly, it was more of a cooperative effort) - I used it as an excuse to go visit and in the meantime make some warm, fuzzy, fleece blankets to be donated to the local children's hospital for little bitties who don't have much in the way of comfort.  Thank you, Tiffany for having such a big heart to arrange this effort.  And for allowing me to come along for the ride!

Nate was outside playing today when I heard him yelling "Help ME!" - I went (read: RAN) to see what the problem was and I found him like this.  Self-imposed capture.  He had tied himself to a tree and was acting out a struggle to escape.  Darn kid and his imagination.  He almost gave me a heart attack.  And believe me, I told him so.

Alex took a header off the chair today.  Landed right on a drumstick on the floor.  The red you see is either a bruise or a brush burn.  It could have been much worse but the scary part came the next day when he started walking crooked and falling over a lot.  We took him to the doctors to have him checked out for a concussion but they told us just to watch him and said he did have some fluid on his ear that may be causing his "drunken sailor" walk.  Phew!

Fun with glow sticks.

These things are fabulous fun for the whole family!

I bought a 15 pack of them at Michael's for $1 and have been giving Nate one a night (especially fun since it gets dark at 5 o'clock now!).  He loves to check our bedroom for "the blue monster" and see what he can see in the dark.  Alex is not as big of a fan of dark places, but it keeps Nate occupied for hours (he even sleeps with it in his room for a night light and in the morning they're finally dead!).

Nate and I had our first pizza making night.  When I was little this used to be an every weekend thing and I loved being able to make pizza for the family (and snitch all the toppings while I put it together!)  Nate did a great job helping me gather all the ingredients, slopping on the sauce, sprinkling on the cheese and putting on pepperoni.  His "one for me, one for the pizza" technique worked pretty well over all :)  In this photo he was yelling "Yeah, Pizza!"

Alex has a new habit of raiding the cupboard to find "his" container of Cheerios.  I find it entertaining to watch him dig his short little arm all the way in to pull out a handful and then carry it around with him.  The container is almost bigger than he is.

Nate decided he wanted to make "chicken noodle soup" today and lucky for him I had dishes to wash and dinner to make so I gave him some bowls, measuring cups, mixing spoons, flour, pepper, water, and a blender (unplugged) and he whipped up some mean soup for our "enjoyment".  It made a few more dishes for me to wash but it kept him occupied forever - measuring and mixing and dumping from blender to bowl to blender again.  I will let him "cook" soup again anyday!!

I am sad to say I didn't get a single picture of BOTH boys together in their Halloween costumes.  Not sure why except that I forgot.  So here are the boys all dressed up for the festivities.  Geema made Nate's Captain Hook coat and Alex's my monkey boy so his Old Navy ebay find was a given!

We painted pumpkins this year instead of carving them since Nathaniel saw some painted ones at the farm market and LOVED them and Mommy just wasn't up for the mess and hassle this year.

I still cracked into one so Alex could get his first taste (literally) of pumpkin guts, but it wasn't carved or gutted so it was a lot easier this way.

As if pink eye isn't enough for this little guy, it turns out he's allergic to Daddy's shaving cream, too.  He was "shaving" with Daddy today and broke out in this rash on his left side at dinner.  Some benadryl cream later (Thanks to Geema for having obscure things like that on hand in her purse!) and he was better but later that night the other side (seen below) broke out.  Poor kid!

You may be wondering why I have a photo of a roll of toilet paper and that is because my youngest son BIT a hole in it.  He actually took a deep chunk out of it.  Why, I have yet to figure out except that he BITES everything!  When Nathaniel was his age he bit a chunk of wood off of his crib so I guess I just birth beavers or something.
