September 30, 2009

Alex found the music box portion of his old mobile recently and will sit forever just holding it and listening to it play.  I love watching him as he is mesmerized by the plinky version of Twinkle, Twinkle played from the tiny music box, trying desperately to figure out how to turn the key to keep the music going.  As soon as it stops he grunts and thrusts the thing at me as if to say "Again, Mommy!"

Alex got to play with play-doh today
and he wasn't quite sure what to think about it.

He squished it...

He tried to give it to me...

Then he got an idea...
(Who, ME?)

I'll try and eat it...and then say "Yum!" like I believe that it's delicious.

Yuck.

September 28, 2009

This is one of Nathaniel's many get-ups.  I love this kid and the ensembles he comes up with!  I could do an entire blog with a photo a day of just the concoctions Nate pulls together using anything and everything.  My heels, Daddy's socks, various clothing, accessories, and tools or gadgets.  I love it!

My baby boy turned one today.
I can't believe a year has gone by SO FAST!
Here are some photos from his fabulous cake fun!

Thanks to my friend, Shelby for making such a BEAUTIFUL cake
for Alex to squish up for the festivities!

I took this series of photos of my boys snuggling on the couch. I love capturing moments like these. I sure do love my boys!

I admit this isn't the best picture but I thought it was kinda cool. This is Nate sleeping with his Twilight Turtle that shines stars on his ceiling (or in this case on his walls since he likes to pull it into bed with him).

September 23, 2009

Nate was all decked out to hunt monsters that were hiding in the bush in our backyard. He had all the necessities to make a good monster fighting menace - a butterfly net, a pirate sword, and a notebook. That's my boy!!

A pensive moment for my first born, alone with his thoughts...and his raisins.

September 19, 2009

My beloved sister, Sarah, and my niece, Kensington, came to stay with us for a couple days while my brother-in-law did some work on some lead issues in their house. It was the best three days we've spent together in a long time! I loved having her there and it was fun to watch the kids play together! I didn't want her to leave and keep wishing she'd come back!

September 18, 2009

Nate has taken to dragging his life-size Elmo doll around with him all over the house. He calls Elmo "princess" and sleeps with "her", dances with "her", saves "her" from evil, and uses "her" as a pillow to watch TV. :)

What a beautiful night for a boat ride. We bundled up the kids and headed out after dinner for a quick boat ride. It's getting to be the end of the season so we better take advantage of it while we can!!

September 16, 2009

Tomorrow is my brother's birthday and since he's half a world away serving our country, I wanted to do something special to show him we were thinking of him on his special day. So, I made up a sign that said "Happy Birthday, Uncle Noah" and asked Nate if he wanted to color it for him. He happily obliged. Once beautifully decorated, I took a photo of the boys holding the sign and emailed it to my brother for his birthday. It was almost bedtime before we got to take the photo so it didn't turn out perfect, but Nate was very cooperative so I did the best I could!

September 15, 2009

With this being the first day for Nathaniel at his new pre-school, I took almost 100 pictures today alone. It was hard to choose just one picture to post but since photos of his first day of school have already been shared, I chose this one of Nate and Alex caught in a rare moment of playing quietly together! Ahhh...

September 14, 2009

I loaded the boys into the wagon this afternoon to walk around the corner to Wilson Farms for some milk. Of course what does a hot summer afternoon call for but ICE CREAM!!! So I gave the kids each a nutty buddy cone and headed back. Alex went to town on his and was a sticky, gooey, HAPPY mess by the time we got home. We went straight into the sprinkler from here so I didn't mind! I love summer!

September 13, 2009

It was a busy day - moving and cleaning and packing and moving some more. Who am I kidding, though. All I really did was keep the kids out of the way. A lot of good having ME there was!

Nate found a quiet spot out back to collect his thoughts.

Nate and I loved this baby snake that Alex found (and played with for quite some time before we realized what he was playing with) under the "welcome" mat at the back door. Nate held him very gently and played with him for a long while, I think he even named him "Joe" or something. Finally I suggested we let Joe go so he could go find his family and Nate released him into a rotting log so he could make a home.

There are rocks like this one everywhere on my parents' property - such fun! Growing up the farm next door to my grandparents' house was covered in these stones and we made playgrounds of fun out of them!

September 12, 2009

We started the morning by fishing out on Bear Pond where my Aunt and Uncle live. We were staying with them while we were visiting. It was a grey, damp morning, but still beautiful!

I absolutely love Nate's dirty butt and saggy drawers here. He's just so boy.

Nate checking out the fish he helped Daddy snag and reel in. This kid could fish 24/7 and be happy!

September 11, 2009

We left today for a weekend trip to the Adirondacks to help my parents move into the new camp/house they bought up North. In honor of the occasion, I tried to find a somber photo of the beautiful scenery to post but apparently didn't take any today. Besides, I couldn't resist sharing this one.

Nathaniel got a hold of Geema's glasses - I think he looks hilarious!

September 10, 2009

This is the average amount of laundry I tackle at any given time. I usually do the laundry on the weekends and man, four people sure do create a lot of dirty clothes to collect, wash, dry, fold, and put away! I'm not sure why I took a photo of it except to prove to my husband how much I did while he was at work :)

Finger painting fun...Alex didn't know he wasn't supposed to EAT it...good thing it was non-toxic and WASHABLE!

All was going well until Alex decided he was tired and started rubbing his eyes...

The clean up was fun, though! Splish, splash!
