What happens when you absentmindedly watch TV while rubbing a black crayon over your lips like chap stick? You wind up looking like the Joker, of course. Ironically enough, he is wearing his Batman PJs in this picture :)

Nathaniel brought home his very first gift for me today. He made it in school and I LOVE IT! He was SO proud to give it to me and had even told me about it the day before but I wasn't sure what he was talking about except that he kept saying his teachers wouldn't let him bring it home yet. When I got home and he remembered it he said he had something for me and "Oh, let me SHOW you it!" - Too cute! He unwrapped it for me and looked so happy when I excitedly asked him he made it for ME? :)

I'm posting this picture to show you one of the fabulous outfits Nate dressed himself in this morning. My favorite part is the Dash (from The Incredibles) boots on the wrong feet and (what you can't see is) his brother's Halloween candy corn socks on under the boots. It's a fabulous ensemble and he never seems to disappoint.

The family was snuggling on the couch watching our new all-time favorite online music videos of The Jimmies (if you haven't checked these guys out - DO SO!) - it's become a nightly routine for Nate and I and tonight we decided to bring Daddy and Alex into our circle of trust. I'm glad we did or I never would have caught this sweet, endearing moment of my littlest boy lovin' on his Daddy.
P.S. Thanks to Heather at The Extraordinary Ordinary for sharing these gems of musical prowess with me!

We headed down to camp today to enjoy this beautiful weather. I snapped over 200 pictures today but like this one of both my boys because they are simultaneously looking at me and that's a rare treat. Granted the look on their face says "Have you lost your mind, Woman!" but I assure you that is NOT because I had (seconds earlier) busted out into a (horrible) rendition of "Who Let the Dogs Out?" in a feeble attempt to get them to look my way. I wouldn't do that. Not me. That would be crazy.
Oh, and if you're wondering why Alex has headphones on it's because we were down to camp to sight in our guns for opening day of deer season this weekend. They're his shooting muffs (previously Nate's but he's moved up to big boy "plugs"). Nate brought his bubble blower pistol to sight in as well.

It isn't often my floor is this clear of toys, fuzz, Cheerios, and general STUFF. I am so happy to be able to see across my living room with nothing to trip over, walk around, or crush into the carpet. It won't last long, but I aim to enjoy it while I can!

It's annual TURKEY RAFFLE time!
I love the turkey raffle!
Where else can you bring the whole family,
get free food (hot dogs and sauerkraut!),
FREE BEER,
and gamble for hours for only $40.
And that included raffle tickets, tips and donations to the fire department, and plenty of fun!
Ok, so we didn't win anything this year, but we had fun trying!

Does anyone remember doing this as a child?
Putting the macaroni on each prong of the fork before eating it?
I do.
And I find it thoroughly entertaining that it's apparently an unspoken rite of passage.
Or it's genetic.
Who knows, I just find it fantastically endearing.
Oh, and the boo boo under NATE's eye? Yeah, that was another injury involving falling (off my back as he tried to jump on me from his bed and fell onto a fire truck on his bedroom floor) - I swear I don't beat my children. They just BOTH happen to have eye injuries/bruises/cuts to the same eye within a week of each other.

I saw this sunset driving to the mall tonight. I think this is a perfect photo to post in honor of our veterans, past and present, who have made the ultimate sacrifices to keep us safe and free.
Happy Veteran's Day!

Today one of my best friends in the whole world organized a "Blankets for Babies" event (that word is used lightly, it was more of a cooperative effort) - I used it as an excuse to go visit and in the meantime make some warm, fuzzy, fleece blankets to be donated to the local children's hospital for little bitties who don't have much in the way of comfort. Thank you, Tiffany for having such a big heart to arrange this effort. And for allowing me to come along for the ride!

Nate was outside playing today when I heard him yelling "Help ME!" - I went (read: RAN) to see what the problem was and I found him like this. Self-imposed capture. He had tied himself to a tree and was acting out a struggle to escape. Darn kid and his imagination. He almost gave me a heart attack. And believe me, I told him so.

Alex took a header off the chair today. Landed right on a drumstick on the floor. The red you see is either a bruise or a brush burn. It could have been much worse but the scary part came the next day when he started walking crooked and falling over a lot. We took him to the doctors to have him checked out for a concussion but they told us just to watch him and said he did have some fluid on his ear that may be causing his "drunken sailor" walk. Phew!
P.S. Happy 38th Anniversary, Mom and Dad! For more info on that, read here.

Fun with glow sticks.
These things are fabulous fun for the whole family!
I bought a 15 pack of them at Michael's for $1 and have been giving Nate one a night (especially fun since it gets dark at 5 o'clock now!). He loves to check our bedroom for "the blue monster" and see what he can see in the dark. Alex is not as big of a fan of dark places, but it keeps Nate occupied for hours (he even sleeps with it in his room for a night light and in the morning they're finally dead!).

Nate and I had our first pizza making night. When I was little this used to be an every weekend thing and I loved being able to make pizza for the family (and snitch all the toppings while I put it together!) Nate did a great job helping me gather all the ingredients, slopping on the sauce, sprinkling on the cheese and putting on pepperoni. His "one for me, one for the pizza" technique worked pretty well over all :) In this photo he was yelling "Yeah, Pizza!"

Nate decided he wanted to make "chicken noodle soup" today and lucky for him I had dishes to wash and dinner to make so I gave him some bowls, measuring cups, mixing spoons, flour, pepper, water, and a blender (unplugged) and he whipped up some mean soup for our "enjoyment". It made a few more dishes for me to wash but it kept him occupied forever - measuring and mixing and dumping from blender to bowl to blender again. I will let him "cook" soup again anyday!!
